Transforming Fibers
I am captivated by natural materials and use them in my artistic works. For this body of work, I discovered the plant fibers of kozo, flax and reed. I learned to turn the kozo bark into a beautiful laciness, turn the sensuous flax into sculptural forms, and add reed as dimensional lines. Adding found plant material, I combine the fibers until they resonate with me, creating fanciful wall sculptures that abstractly reference the world around me. I embrace nature, letting its beauty guide my work.
